Advisory Council Meetings

The Advisory Council meets with the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and MDIFW staff regularly to provide information and advice concerning the administration of the Department. The Council meets each December and May, as well as throughout the year. All regular and special meetings of the advisory council are open to the public.

Landowners and Land Users Advisory Board

The Landowners and Land Users Relations Advisory Board advises the Commissioner of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife on landowner-related laws, policies, programs, and issues affecting landowners and outdoor recreationists. The board helps review and recommend improvements to landowner relations efforts, supports conflict resolution related to public access, and works to promote greater understanding and cooperation between those who own land and those who use Maine's private and public lands for recreation.

Working Groups

Moosehead Area Moose Hunting Season Working Group

The Moosehead Area and Moose Hunting Season Working Group is gathering input on whether portions of Wildlife Management Districts 8, 9, 14, and 17 could be opened to September moose hunting while minimizing impacts on tourism and other recreational users in the Moosehead region. Through a series of public working group meetings in Greenville, representatives from hunting, tourism, landowner, and community interests will help inform discussions about potential future moose hunting opportunities and ways to reduce hunter congestion across the season.
