WHEREAS, Maine veterans and their families have sacrificed bravely for the United States of America and the State of Maine, and it is our duty to support those who have given so much for our country and communities; and

WHEREAS, Veterans Forward, a program of Easterseals Maine, provides assistance to Maine veterans, service members and their families when other resources may not be available; and

WHEREAS, Veterans Forward helps veterans and their families with necessities such as housing, substance use treatment, home heating assistance, food and clothing, and job training; and

WHEREAS, on October 15, 2026, NewsRadio WGAN will host the “Make 12 Hours Count Radiothon” from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to raise awareness and funds to support Veterans Forward and the veterans and military families it serves;
 

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Janet T. Mills, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby proclaim October 15, 2026 as 

Veterans Forward Day

in Maine, and I encourage people across the state to support this important mission of serving Maine veterans and their families.
