WHEREAS, manufacturing is essential to the economic vitality of Maine, supporting nearly 1,900 businesses, employing over 56,000 people, and contributing billions of dollars annually to the state's economy; and

WHEREAS, Maine manufacturers create a diverse array of products, from precision aerospace components, advanced composites, and marine vessels to food, beverages, and forest products, strengthening both our local communities and our national economy; and

WHEREAS, Maine's defense manufacturing sector plays a critical role in supporting our nation's security, producing world-class ships, components, and technologies that equip and protect the men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces; and

WHEREAS, the strength of Maine's manufacturing sector comes from its people – the skilled and dedicated workers whose innovation, craftsmanship, and pride in their work are the foundation of the products that carry Maine's reputation for quality across the globe; and

WHEREAS, manufacturing in Maine is driven by advanced technology and skilled trades, with companies continually adapting to meet the needs of global markets while supporting local supply chains; and

WHEREAS, workforce development is essential to sustaining and growing this sector, with educators, employers, and workforce organizations working together to build talent pipelines through career awareness, training, and apprenticeship opportunities; and

WHEREAS, organizations including the Manufacturers Association of Maine, Maine MEP, and industry partners across the state continue to advocate for, promote, and support the manufacturing sector through programs, events, and partnerships;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Janet T. Mills, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2025 as

Manufacturing Month

throughout the State of Maine, and I encourage all citizens, educational institutions, businesses, and communities to recognize the importance of manufacturing to our shared prosperity, our national defense, and the dedicated workers who make it possible.
