Maine clinicians should consider testing for cyclosporiasis in addition to other parasites, bacteria, and viruses for patients experiencing severe or prolonged gastrointestinal symptoms.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL) does not conduct tests for cyclosporiasis. Clinicians should seek out commercial testing options.
As of July 14, 2026, the Maine CDC has two confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis so far in 2026. Maine’s cases are not linked to the multistate outbreaks, at this time.
