Flanked by Cabinet members and Maine State Treasurer Henry Beck, Governor Janet Mills today unveiled her Administration’s 2019 bond package, which is comprised of a series of targeted investments to expand Maine’s economy, build a strong, skilled workforce, repair Maine’s aging infrastructure, and usher in clean, renewable energy.
Governor Janet Mills signed into law today legislation to ensure that insurance company medical reviews are conducted by medical professionals. LD 249, “An Act to Ensure Protection of Patients in Medical Reviews by Health Insurance Carriers” sponsored by Senator Geoff Gratwick, D-Bangor, was passed unanimously by the Legislature.
Governor Janet Mills announced today that she has nominated six people to serve on the Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission. Governor Janet Mills announced today that she has vetoed LD 822, An Act to Prohibit the Sale of Motor Fuel Containing More Than 10 Percent Ethanol. The bill would prohibit the sale of motor fuel products in Maine that contain ethanol greater than 10 percent unless the sale of such fuel is in a sealed container that contains one quart or less of the motor fuel. It also repeals a contingent prohibition on the sale of motor fuel containing more than 10 percent ethanol by volume.

Governor Janet Mills announced today that she has signed an Executive Order to create the All-Terrain Vehicle Initiatives Task Force. Although there are many ATV users who are operating on public and private lands responsibly, the Task Force comes at a time when there are other ATV operators who are disobeying state laws and trespassing on and damaging private lands, causing private landowners to consider posting their land which would jeopardize Maine’s long-held tradition of open access and threaten the state’s recreational economy.
